National CEO Announces Resignation

June 5, 2012

Ric Odom, National CEO, YMCA New Zealand has today announced his resignation. Ric joined the YMCA in September 2003 and has provided dedicated service and leadership since, working tirelessly to promote the YMCA as a significant and trusted community organisation.

The relationships he has formed with senior managers, government officials, Members of Parliament and Ministers in particular have served all member associations well. It is clear he is highly regarded by other community sector leaders in New Zealand and by YMCA leaders internationally.

His role in taking charge of the YMCA of Greater Wellington, leading it out of insolvency and into profitability is well known and resulted in the YMCA achieving what was at the time, its highest strategic priority – to have a thriving YMCA in our capital city.

The role of National CEO of the YMCA has always been a challenging one but Ric always rose to the challenges. He was constantly looking for new opportunities for the national movement and our member associations and was always strategic in his thinking. He was also a friend, colleague and confidant to many in the movement.
